You are bidding on a 1968 Ocelot II Dune buggy. This is a very original dune buggy. A true Survivor of the 60’s. These were sold as kits or complete dune buggies by Sand Chariots of California in the late 60’s early 70’s. They were marketed as The Ferrari of the Sand. This Dune Buggy is titled as a 1968 VW and has the 1968 VW motor and pan. This buggy has the full sides on it. The paint is the Original Candy Apple Red Metal Flake Lacquer with White Stripe. As you can see from the pictures this is a very original dune buggy that has stood the test of time. It still has its original Green Stewart Warner gauges like the ones Carrol Shelby installed on his 1967 and 1968 Shelby Mustangs and the VW Speedometer. It also has its original AP Chrome wheels, Biased Ply tires, Original Top and Side Curtains, Carpet, Dash, Steering wheel, corvette gas cap, Chrome Roll Bar, AM Transistor Radio and Wood Grain Dash. The engine has lots of chrome with the old Aluminum Finned Valve Covers. I even have the original Tow bar. The buggy Starts and runs Greats and I have driven it up and down the road. It has lots of power. The lights, Brakes, Wipers and Turn signals all work as they should. The buggy is very nice but does have some chips and some cracks in the paint as can be expected of a 40+ year old Dune buggy. The body has no cracks in the Fiber Glass and shows no signs of any repairs. All the chrome is original and still presents well for its age.
