Description
Make: Sea-Doo Model Year: 1996
Model: GTX Trailer Included: Yes

1996 Sea-Doo GTX with only 120 hours.  3 seater with the 787 engine putting out 110HP.  It has forward, neutral and reverse.  It will do right around 50 with one average person on board.  Comes complete with a brand new battery, fire extinguisher (unknown condtion), tool kit, collapsable paddle and factory operator's manual stating it was new on 4/24/96 from Spot Cycle in Reading, PA.  Has a Load Rite trailer compete with locking spare, swivel jack and bearing buddies.  This was the first year with the new hull design and has lots of storage up front as well as a glove box by the operator and a 2 piece seat with storage under the back section.  There is a mechanical tachometer and speedometer as well as the electronic information unit that gives several kinds of data including the hours.  It has the towing eye for skiing or tubing.History:  This belonged to my father's neighbor since new I believe.  After seeing it unused for a couple years, he asked if he would sell it.  He said yes so we bought it in fall of 2010.  Since it had not run in a couple years and I am no mechanic and we had heard of the ethanol issues, we took it to a shop specializing in personal water craft and told them to make it ready for ethanol gas and get it running perfect.  They took 6 months but went completely through it.  They cleaned the tank, replaced lines, rebuilt/cleaned carbs and it ran perfect.  I believe the bill was around 1000-1200.  We actually only used it about 2-3  hours per year for the next few years.  My father always wanted to ride it but at 70 with failing health, never did.  Just myself and my brother-in law a little since our kids were too young they only got a ride on the back.  One day in 2014, we noticed there was water coming in around the impeller shaft while running. I took it to another local shop and told them to go over it all while there. They replaced the carbon seal on the shaft and gave it a complete once over, finding a couple minor things they said needed attention, again taking 6 months and another $1000.  It runs like a champ and always has but we just don't use it.  I believe it has had only about 2 hours since the last time to the shop.  This spring I drained the tank completely so I would have complete fresh gas this summer.  I used the gas in my lawn mower and it was fine.  I only ever used 93 octane with Marine Stabil, even during the season.  I started it for the first time this year today.  After having to buy a new battery, it fired almost instantly off I went.  I don't live near water so I put it in my pond for a test ride.  I posted it on youtube and the link is here.https://youtu.be/0tyCYNniNVUAfter my pond ride, I really thought of keeping but I know it needs to go somewhere to be used.  It has only 120.X original hours and the engine has never been apart to my knowledge.  Both check ups at the shop said it was in great shape. The Bad:  There is sun fading all over as to be expected for one this age.  The multifunction gauge has a polarized coating on the cover that went bad and does on this model often.  The gauge works fine and you can read it but it is harder now.  It can be fixed with a kit found on ebay for $25.  There is heavy scratching on the bottom, not gouging or cracks, see picture.  The seat has one small spot where the vinyl cracked, see picture. The trailer has rust and the tires while having great tread are showing light cracking in the rubber. There are small blemishes all over but no real damage.  There is corrosion on the aluminum intake plate under the back. The Good:  Overall, this is a great ski.  It is completely trustworthy and runs beautifully and the engine has never been apart.  It starts, idles and accelerates just like it should.  All the gauges work.  There are no cracks or broken parts.  It has only 120 adult rider hours, not 20 year olds pounding it over wakes.  It is absolutely ready to ride with a brand new battery of just the right size. The trailer is galvanized.  I never could understand the fools that bought painted trailers no matter where they were using them. The trailer has a PA title and the Sea-Doo had a Delaware registration.    It has the standard 1 7/8" ball hitch with the 4 prong flat plug.  It comes with a locked on spare, swivel jack with wheel, and bearing buddies.  I will guarantee the lights work for the new owner.  I will include 2 cam buckle straps to tie it down so the buyer is ready to hit the road.Terms:  The Sea-Doo sells as is.  I am no expert or mechanic and have told all I know.  Please ask any questions before you win.  Come see it in person.  I am not close to water so I can't easily offer a sea trial but we can start it on a hose and you can see the video I took today.  Please ask your significant other before you bid.  Once the auction ends, the Sea-Doo is yours and your money is mine.  I cannot ship it but will assist with any shipper you arrange.  I want to be paid in cash at pickup and expect that to happen within 7 days unless other arrangements are made ahead of time. I can arrange pickup in Quarryville, PA or Kennedyville, MD depending on the day you are coming.Good Luck!
