The 10-foot Sea-Doo GTi LE is perfect for a wind-whipping ride on fresh or salt water. With an 85 hp, 718 cc, twin-cylinder, two-stroke Rotax Marine powerplant, there's enough strength to take you where you want to go. Completely redesigned in 2001, the GTi is a streamlined PWC with seating for three and the amenities to keep them comfortable. Plus, there's a total of 33.8 gallons of space in four compartments for gear, including a glove compartment and water-tight stow-away for a fire extinguisher and other gear. Designed for the water-lover who takes recreation seriously, the LE packs special features that make it as practical as it is adventurous. Since its introduction in 1995, this waterbike has come a long way.Skiers, wake, or kneeboarders will especially appreciate the extras built into this model, which the Pro Wakeboard Tour has previously used as a tow vehicle. For safety and ease, there is a fold-down reboarding step that tucks away nicely, skid-free decking, non-slip grips, grab handles and a seat strap for extra safety. The rear-facing spotter also has handgrips and footrests for a more comfortable ride. With all its safety features, the GTi LE is family-friendly and a great puller for tubes. And so that no one gets left behind, the left-side lever allows the driver to shift into forward, neutral or reverse for easier docking, pick-ups or tying up with friends. Bumpers and temporary docking loops make filling up on regular unleaded gas a quick task. New this year, Sea-Doo added attractive, cozy footwell carpeting, which comes standard along with bow and stern eyes for towropes and adjustable dual rearview mirrors. All controls, including the handlebar's start/stop button, are at your fingertips. The read-out panel displays an extra-large analog speedometer and fuel and oil gauges for all the instrumentation you need. At 15 gallons with a 3-gallon reserve, fuel capacity is abundant. But it's what you don't see that's impressive. The D-Sea-Bel system provides up to a 50% reduction of noise pollution. The GTi LE also meets all EPA exhaust standards. Internal warning devices, a water cooling system, and an RPM limiter to reduce maintenance and keep you on the water. Sea-Doo now has an exclusive off-power assisted steering (O.P.A.S.) system that activates dual rudders when needed. It also has a floating safety lanyard to kill the engine in case of an emergency. The hull design on this model is sleek and just what you'd expect from a Sea-Doo watercraft. The GTi LE semi-V, fiberglass-reinforced hull provides stability even at rest, and cuts through water while maintaining good handling ability, control and swift reaction to turns. Last year's modification of a deeper deadrise provides for a less bumpy ride. Spray is also kept to a minimum to keep you drier. The GTi LE is top-notch for recreational affordability from a trusted manufacturer. It looks good and is a fair value for its class. It's versatile, low-maintenance and user-friendly. If you're a weekend warrior looking for a relatively inexpensive, quality PWC, yet still looking to impress, this is a good choice.
