Up for auction is a beautifully restored 1971 Arctic Cat Lynx 292 Snowmobile. This is still a project snowmobile. My brother and I have owned this sled for over 10 years, and most of the work was done 10 years ago. It has sat in it's present state since then. We have had several other projects going and just lost interest in the sled. So now it's time to sell it to someone that will finish it. As you can see there is no engine, the original engine is long gone. NO engine is included. Our plan was to install a liquid cooled polaris engine that we had. The small center heat exchanger is mounted to the sled, and can easily be removed. there are also 2 holes on each side of the tunnel for the side heat exchangers, which are not mounted. No other modifications were performed on the snowmobile to mount the engine. So just install whatever engine plate and mounts you desire. I do have an engine plate for the polaris engine which we made to fit the sled, and another stock plate, which I believe is for a 399 or 440 fan motor.The complete sled was totally disassembled and every rivet drilled out of the tunnel and bulkhead. The complete bulkhead was stripped and repainted with dupont single stage black, along with the dash, gas tank and all brackets, complete suspension front and back. Everything that is black was stripped and painted with dupont paint. The tunnel and bellypan were polished. I wouldn't consider the aluminum show polished but it's really nice. All the new rivets are correct steel rivets for the sled. Every rivet is new on this thing, and it took forever. Gas tank also sealed with POR15.Rear suspension was completey rebuilt and gone over. The track had all the cleats removed, and most of them were replaced. All new rivets in the cleats and 96 carbide studs also added. Another good spare track is also included if you want it. The front skis are NOS, but also given a shot of dupont paint. Front shocks are also new. Everything feels like new, the steering is nice and tight and suspension is plush and feels great. This sled will be an absolute pleasure to ride.The hood has seen it's better days, and has some cracks and a spray can paint job. So either repair or replace the hood. A new windshield is included, but has some marks from being moved around. The front hood hinge is also missing, I can't find it.Sled just needs the finishing touches, add an engine, wiring harness, gas cap and redo the hood and you will have a basically new snowmobile. If the sled doesn't sell I will just hang onto it, and eventually finish it. Buyer to pay for shipping, and all shipping arrangements will have to be done by the buyer. Please check into shipping before bidding if that is your plan. Payment by cash at pickup or a cashiers check/ money order, which will have to clear before the sled leaves.
