This is a mid 70's Commuter TE390 3 wheeler in exeptional condition. I don't know the exact year, it is not listed anywhere on the machine. Runs as good as it looks.  Everthing works, including the lights. It has electric start, and a brand new AGM battery about 2 weeks ago. The tires are all tubeless and hold air well. No weather checking or cracking,  maybe they were replaced at some point?  They are Goodyear tires.  This is kind of a rare unit, but this is what I was able to learn by researching the forums.  In the early 70's there was a 3 wheeler called the Pacesetter III.  They were bought out by Commuter in 1975 and were produced for around 8 years. Then John Deere bought the rights and patents and  made them into a 5 wheeler called the AMT, which was the forerunner of the John Deere Gator.  This Commuter uses a variable ratio transmission like a snowmobile, just twist the throttle and go. It has rear suspension only, electric start, using a 341cc Kawasaki industial motor. Its 8.5 horsepower but is loaded with low end  torque. It is built to work HARD. Very heavy duty build.  I would estimate it to go about 30mph wide open. Its no slouch getting there, the snowmobile style transmission works very well.  This Commuter was lightly used for hauling deer bait around the original owners land. It was always stored in his heated shop, and it shows. Very little fade and corrosion!  I doubt a nicer one exists.  It is missing 2 decals, one on the front forks that originally said "390"  And the left tank decal is gone.  Look at the many pics. No dissapointments, this thing is NICE!  This is located in Plover ,WI  54467   Pretty much right in the middle of the state.
