This listing is for a one of a kind 1985 Yamaha qt50 moped that has been transformed into a cafe racer, It started out stock and has been in my family since the 90's after sitting for some time I decided to take it from the shed and give it new life. We had it registered in Michigan last in 1999 so you will get registration stub and bill of sale as no title in Mi on scooters of this age. Starts easily usually one kick takes a minute like most two strokes to warm up, runs great has two different shock setups that change out with two bolts in seconds to change for when a adult rides vs a younger shorter person easier to reach ground. I am 5'10'' and 230lbs and it runs me up the road at 30+mph. All though much of the bike has been updated modified cleaned lubed painted etc... tires are still good but are older and show age as well as other various original parts reused during build/modifications it's meant for go not show but might as well look cool while doing it. This truly is a awesome little machine gets compliments everywhere people take pics it even unexpectedly took home a Best 2 Stroke trophy at the Ton up fest in Ypsilanti a few weeks ago. I had given it to my daughter after build and while she loves riding it she is saving for a different 4 wheeler and asked to sell this to help fund that. A lot went into this to get it to look like a motorcycle/cafe racer and not have some goofy motorcycle parts added that blow out proportions and make it look silly. As well it handles amazing now it feels like a mini motorcycle you can actually throw it into corners and it will stick when it was stock it was sketchy taking corners at speed with its high seat and handlebars view pic of when it was stock . A quick list of some of the main mods is as follows: And please check out Charlie James Customs on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube for pics and vids of other builds I have done. Has a small aftermarket Cafe seat with hump with simple snap brackets that attach it to frame rails with no tools or hardware but very secure. sub frame with frame hoop out of 1 inch tubing welded to stock oil/gas tank perch. sub frame was lined with seat pan out of 16 gauge steel. Under seat hides a new 6v 5ah battery as well as wiring for brake lights and signals. Rear lights/signal are 9volt 5mm red leds that protrude through rear of seat hump and have diodes limiting current for running then separate circuit for full brake power/brightness. The gas tank is from a early 70's Yamaha lt100 enduro inside is pretty clean petcock was cleaned rebuilt exterior of tank has no real damage or dings but had awesome patina with sun fade on top and one side, other side still has some original metallic purple so simply did a light sand and clear coat it really looks perfect for the bike and is proportioned perfect to size of bike. Carburetor was cleaned and jets replaced free flow cone filter installed. New spark plug and gear oil, also 2 stroke oil injection pump bypassed on motor use premix, I run 50:1 its easier and those pumps are know for dumping to much oil. Longer much more heavy duty shock from a 150cc scooter offers much better ride in rear you won't believe how close to a bike this thing handles now versus it's top heavy stock counterpart. New rear seal on gear cover. Used a Mongoose mountain bike stem to mate to the cut down stock qt50 stem (tig welded) to be able to mount standard bars (Stock old man bars and stem were originally one piece). Bikemaster Clubman 7/8 bars that were cut down just a little to keep proportions that was a big thing for me in building this was didn't want anything to look out of place or like it didn't belong. Front electronics and horn box was flipped to sit lower down below bars compared to it sitting up a foot above the now gas tank again to keep everything in line scale if you will. Made simple bracket to relocate speedometer cluster to in front and just below bars. Simple struts were cut and welded to be used as the front headlight mounts headlight also has led amber turn signals mounted to post for headlight mounting bolts. Front fender painted along with frame and other various pieces. Wheels looked pretty good so were just cleaned up a bit and made sure spun true. All controls and switches are stock. Made a new throttle cable because original fed to a housing that split into two lines one for carb one for oil pump which is no longer used. Shipping pickup etc.. is on buyer but I will assist in any way I can loading or working with shippers and I even have shippers I use and can recommend or if you are within 120 miles of 43468 I will deliver for .50 cents a mile one way. example your 60 miles from me it would be 30.00 for deliver just enough to cover fuel and time. Thanks for looking and will add additional pics upon request and will get a video up soon here in the listing so check back for that!
