Description
VIN (Vehicle Identification Number): VA13T59027 Make: 1964 Sears Allstate Vespa Piaggio scooter
Engine Size: 177cc Model Year: 1964
Fuel Type: gas/oil

The original Allstate 125cc cylinder and head will go with the sale, but after a ride with this 177cc Pinasco cylinder/head combo with the performance carb and exhaust you will never want to ride a stock Allstate again.  The guys at Scooterwest in San Diego rebuilt the stator assembly and it provides excellent lighting and spark.  The new top end has strong compression yet it starts very easily.  With its peppy performance I would think it would be great as a local commuter, easily keeping up with traffic speeds (unlike the original 125). It shifts nicely and has the original 3 speed transmission. This is a battery-less system.Hundreds of cool accessories are available for these.  The body fenders have 3M soundproofing which keeps the noise level very acceptable.  The body underside is coated with rock guard, front end has been upgraded with a sprung suspension.  The original parts that were in good condition were reused but most of the scooter sports new hoses, cables, wiring harness, lighting, footrails, rubber trim, seat and grips. Even the footrail rivets are peened like the originals.  The luggage rack chrome was beginning to flake so I had it powder coated.  The original speedometer's odometer was reused with a new face and glass.  All unused original parts will go with this scooter (including the muffler, carb, 125cc cylinder, piston and head, seat and assorted bits).  It has a little oil seep under the gearbox. Doesn't seem to be a problem, just wanted to mention it. An extensive amount of work went into making this Allstate look vintage yet perform like a modern scooter. I will be driving from Maryland to Montana at the end of June and will be happy to deliver it for a VERY reasonable fee to points along the way. Otherwise, local pickup is preferred, and making arrangements for shipping is the buyer's responsibility. A deposit of $100 is due through Paypal at the end of the auction, balance due in cash or cashiers check certified from a major US bank. Payment will need to be completed promptly and bike picked up before June 30 if possible. It has a Maryland title, signed by the previous owner and ready to be transferred. This is a remarkable scooter and you won't often see an opportunity to get a vintage upgrade like this for this price!
