Offered for Sale is my mate’s home built Trike. Built on the foundations of a 1983 Yamaha XV750 . Registered in the UK on the V5 as a Tricycle and NOT on a Q plate. Three years in the making, my mate has altered things here there and everywhere to the machines great improvement. To my knowledge, he has already spent at least £2000 on this machine.  As you get on board the Trike you are struck by how comfortable it is, good riding position, gear change and brake pedal just right where you want them. The handbrake is to hand; you simply lean down and pull, its right next to you. Not one of those daft ones fitted somewhere at the back end, and it operates both of the brakes, not just one. The rear wheel cylinders are both new and the rear Master Cylinder has been up rated to a powerful Brembo unit with a pressure operated brake light switch built in.  At the front end, the caliper has been rebuilt with all new seals to a high standard, and a set of new pads are in there as well.  Facing you is a new Koso speedo & tacho unit which is a really nice classy addition, great to look at and accurate. So much nicer than the cumbersome old plastic unit originals.  The engine has had a from the ground up rebuild and will still require some running in, as this was only 100 miles or so ago. All rings, bearings, gaskets, and oil seals have been replaced. Valves have been decoked, ground, and lapped in, and all the stem seals are new. Whilst the unit was apart, a new clutch & new genuine adjuster was also fitted. Aficionados of the XV series Yamaha’s will know that the Achilles heel of the early units was the flywheel. This has a brand new original (new old stock) flywheel at a cost of £200 fitted, along with a brand new starter motor and all new pinion gear ! This old girl starts well and runs well.  All topped off with the Cylinders of the V given a spray job with a really good coat of high quality black VHT spray paint. Not that crap that flakes off after 10 minutes, and it can be jet washed when cold. Rear suspension is taken care of by a pair of progressive suspension units (USA MADE) these are the type you can pump up at the petrol station with a standard airline. Very expensive to buy, look great, and do the job well. The front forks have had new oil seals and the legs have new oil. Most of the back end he has fabricated himself. The mudguards, rear light unit housings, and luggage rack. There isn’t another Trike the same as this anywhere in the world. Every Electrical connection on this Trike has been looked at and treated, as has the whole loom, all done with solder and heat shrink tubing to a high standard.  You won’t find a scotch lok, wire twist, or insulation tape here ! The Trike has a proper waterproofed hazard light warning switch within easy reach of the rider, and the Ignition switch has been relocated close to the headstock for aesthetic purposes. Virtually every nut and bolt has been replaced with high quality A2 Stainless Steel Allen bolts. There must have been close to 1000 man hours over the three years gone into this Trike . It has been a true labour of love...... SO WHAT ARE THE BAD BITS, I hear you cry ? Well we’ve noticed a leak on the fuel tank. At first we thought it was near, or on the fuel tap, so the tank was duly removed, inspected, and plastic padding applied to what was thought to be the problem area. Once the fuel was replenished back came the leak. It’s not a horrific bad one, it’s one of those really annoying hard to locate ones. Possibly better to just buy a new one and have done with it. The same tank is available on Ebay for £112 +postage. The green paint job looks quite good in the photos, and to be fair it was ok when it was first done. But he did it with cheap rattle cans because he wanted the Trike to be all one colour when it went for MOT, so it was all a bit rushed, but it served a purpose at the time. Someone with either the skills, or money, could have the Trike looking outstanding with decent paint job .The tappets and timing could do with re-setting as they’ve not been touched since the rebuild. She runs and rides as she is now, but it would be wise to do in the future. And the oil filter will need changing when running in is complete. There is an electrical fault that needs sorting out . Lastly, the big challenge is overall speed. This Trike is Reliant axled, as weve gone along we have discovered that not all Reliant axles are the same. Top speed of the trike is 65mph . This is because the gearing isn’t suited to the machine. It is fitted with a MK1 axle better known as the slow axle. There are two more options available. The “A” stamped axle is very common and the Trike will increase in speed again. But if you can lay your hands on a “B” stamped axle you should be into the realms of a 90+mph Trike.  TRIKE NOW LISTED WITH NO RESERVE  !!! Bidders with less than 10 points will be removed unless you make contact first. The winning bidder must make contact and leave a deposit within 24 hours of the sale ending. Thankyou for your interest  &  happy bidding.
