2003 Honda Quad TRX400FA. Electronic 5 speed transmission, 2wd / 4wd. ‘Trixie’ as she was affectionately known has had a tough life. I purchased her of a cotton farmer about 7 years ago. She was put to work on a horse farm towing a feed trailer around. Did around 2 to 3 hours work a day. Always started. Besides oil changes the only other mechanical work was a new starter motor. In the last few weeks the electronic gear shift started to play up. It would change up but would not change back down. You would have to put it in neutral to get it to go back to 1st. Starter motor also failing. It is fitted with Auto and manual transmission. We never used auto as it never changed above 2nd. The bad. Battery is stuffed. Starter motor stuffed . . works if you tap it. Electronic gear change only goes one way. Only the front brakes work. Tyres are bald. Seat is worn out. CV joint covers are work through. Front uni’s make noise when in 4WD. Plastic guards have seen some action. Pull start is broken. Engine is strong. Does not blow smoke and would start first go without fail when in daily use. We were going to do her up but we require two staff members when feeding so the quad is not safe enough. Can be brought back to life or used for parts.
