Fuel Type: Gas Engine Size: 150cc

Built between 1959 and 1961, the GS150 (VS5) was the final iteration of Piaggio's first sport scooter, the Gran Sport. After that came the much-loved GS160, but this 150cc model, which was offered only in silver, was the model that vaulted scooters from slow, utilitarian vehicles on 8" wheels for groceries and going to church... to sporty speed machines on 10" wheels with distinctive exhaust notes and 150ccs under the rear fender. The GS150 dominated scooter racing across Europe throughout the 1950s.Imported from Italy many years ago, and I've owned it about 10 years. It has a clear IL title.Aesthetics: This is a bike that hasn't been messed with very much. All Paint is original, and you can see the ghosts of factory run-in decals, and old stickers on the shield and above the brake light. Has an absolutely beautiful patina that can't be replicated, and I would implore whomever buys this scooter to leave it as is... it's just beautiful and filled with character. There's some surface rust on the footboards and untreated areas like ares on the engine, but nothing serious that can't be removed with a bit of steel wool and protected with WD40. Chrome around the leg shield and rails on the floor with rubber inserts are all in great shape, and believed to be original.Grips, seat cover and possibly headlight bezel were replaced in the last 15 years, but other than that everything appears to be stock, down to the speedometer in kilometers and rubber kickstart grip. I replaced the rear light with a reproduction, and added a reproduction spare tire holder. Both the original rear light assembly and original spring-loaded chrome bag ring are included, if you'd like to switch back.Mechanically: I've only ridden the scooter a few miles since owning it; it has otherwise sat in a climate-controlled garage. I've had it serviced on three occasions by highly reputable shops, including Pride of Cleveland in Ohio and Scooterworks in Chicago. Pride of Cleveland did a 12v conversion in 2010 so it no longer relies on battery spark assist. Huge improvement, and completely invisible. Original battery and 6v horn are included. Speedometer has never worked while I've owned it, and I presume the odometer doesn't, either.New coil, clutch cable, complete carburetor rebuild and oil change as of July 2016. Typically starts on the first or second kick. Has slight leaking of crankcase oil into the fuel system via an older gasket, so the engine will eventually need attention. I can only speak to its current condition and performance; everything is extremely impressive for a 56 year old scooter with this much originality.~~~~~~~~~~~~My name is Brad, and you're welcome to ask questions. I've been as honest and thorough as possible, so that whoever buys this will be as satisfied as I was when I bought it. Videos of it starting and running are available. There is a small reserve to match what I have invested over the last 10 years. Delivery available if you're within northern Illinois, or I'm happy to work with the shipper of your choice.I believe this scoot belongs in a home where it'll be occasionally ridden, ideally displayed, but always enjoyed. It's quite special, and I'll miss it.
